Since 2008, due to the Spanish economic and social crisis, the numbers of people looking for food in the rubbish bins has dramatically increased. Responding to this situation, the Council of Girona, in Barcelona [Spain], decided to install locks the supermarkets' garbage containers. It´s no time for metaphors was a performance conducted at night, consisting in forcing those locks open and disabling them. It is also an invitation to break those barriers that attempt to respond to a social crisis through a multiplication of small and large gestures of enclosure.
This is no time for metaphors is a response to the council´s meassures. During a night, several garbage´s locks of the city of Girona were open and left broken.
